Embedded USB DataPump Press Release

MCCI USB DataPump® 3.0 Ready for Embedded SuperSpeed Products
Standards-Compliant SuperSpeed Embedded Firmware Now Available

ITHACA, USA, March 9, 2011

MCCI Corporation, the world’s leading developer of USB connectivity to the mobile phone and portable device industry, today announced the availability of the MCCI USB DataPump® 3.0, a proven USB host and device stack for embedded products.

Millions of consumers today enjoy the benefits of products supporting SuperSpeed USB, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0. MCCI’s standards-compliant software presents an efficient, zero-copy architecture that minimizes ”round trips,” enables careful CPU cache management, and supports the ability to tune for bus bandwidth. In addition to the speed advantage, SuperSpeed also delivers improved power management to increase the battery life of portable products.

”Our embedded MCCI USB DataPump SuperSpeed host software is the core for our Microsoft Windows host stack, so embedded customers will benefit from the extensive validation efforts we have performed in the Windows environment,” explains MCCI CEO, Terry Moore. ”Although the number of SuperSpeed product models today is only in the low hundreds, all the billions of existing USB 2.0 products must still function correctly. MCCI takes the extra effort to ensure the same excellent user experience with our SuperSpeed USB products.”

The embedded DataPump host and device stacks have been deployed in hundreds of millions of consumer products. The stacks are portable across processors, compilers and USB cores, meaning product designers can reuse their experience and efforts across multiple platforms as their needs evolve. All the MCCI host and device stack products are fully compliant to USB-IF specifications and can be easily configured to meet any number of product requirements. Additional development and verification tools simplify product integration and testing. The MCCI USB DataPump products for SuperSpeed USB are available now for customer projects. MCCI representatives will be at the SuperSpeed USB Developer’s Conference, March 9-10, 2011 in Amsterdam, to discuss MCCI's product offering.
