Wombat 1510

USB Firmware Development System

Test platform for USB Device Firmware Development

The MCCI Wombat™ Model 1510 USB Firmware Development System provides a system-level solution for prototyping and evaluating Arm-based USB design approaches. Combined with the MCCI USB DataPump® firmware, a real-time operating system, and PC-based test software, the Wombat allows an unprecedented degree of test integration and test coverage for host-based driver development.

A block diagram of the Wombat board appears below:

Hardware Specifications

CPU ARM7-TDMI 32-bit RISC, 50MHz
Cache Unified 8K byte
External Memory Bus 32 bits to SDRAM, 16 bits to NOR flash
Operating voltage 3.3V, regulated from 5V external supply
RAM 16 megabytes SDRAM (32-bit bus)
Boot ROM 1 megabyte NOR flash (16-bit bus)
Non-volatile storage 16 Mbytes NAND flash (8 bit bus). Managed by MCCI's TrueCard® Flash Transfer Layer for high-speed, error-free performance.
Network Interface EIntegrated 10BT/100BT Ethernet, half/full duplex, with DMA data transfers to system memory. Node address stored in calendar/clock RAM.
Calendar/Clock Battery-backed calendar clock and RAM.
Serial Ports 2, with PC/AT compatible modem handshaking lines, in DB-9 DCE receptacles.
Audio two independent audio channels, managed by AC-97 controller. Intended to simulate audio handset level of phone quality.
USB LSI (formerly Lucent) USS-820D general purpose device controller, with 1 default pipe, 7 IN, and 7 OUT endpoints and 1152 bytes of FIFO storage. Each I/O endpoint can be independently configured for bulk, interrupt or isochronous transfers. The large number of endpoints makes the Wombat ideal for simulating multifunction WCDMA handsets.
Dimensions Enclosure: 8.86" x 6.50" x 1.35" (225mm x 165mm x 34.3mm); the PC board dimensions are 8.62" x 6.24" (219mm x 158mm).
