Plug-and-Play was developed to make device installation easier for the end-user. However, Plug-and-Play often requires users to posses detailed knowledge about their system, which can lead to installation problems and technical support calls. MCCI has developed installation technology that eliminates the need for any technical knowledge on the part of users.

MCCI InstallRight™ allows OEMs to provide a more friendly and controllable interface to the user during installation, by including the software with their device drivers. MCCI InstallRight is called by the Windows Device Manager when a new Plug-and-Play device is detected. MCCI InstallRight will then verify that the user's computer is suitable for the installation, display a splash window, and ensure that they agree with your licensing terms. Finally, it communicates with the operating system to insure that devices are correctly installed.

  • Scripting language
    MCCI Installright automatically detects the installed version of Windows, and then installs the appropriate MCCI and Microsoft class drivers required for the target device.
  • System check routines
    MCCI InstallRight looks for hardware that MCCI has found to be problematic with USB hardware. It then notifies the user of the problem with a detailed explanation. Users of older operating systems will no longer wonder why their device that requires a newer operating system doesn't install.
  • Custom file copy routines
    Windows often unpredictably prompts the user for the pathname of the installation disk, even if it already should know where the files are located. Instead of allowing Windows to handle system file copies, MCCI InstallRight performs the copy operations.
  • Custom INF file copy routines
    MCCI InstallRight allows installation of additional device drivers without any user intervention. It also gives you the ability to install a device using a different driver than the one listed in the device's INF file.
  • License screens
    License screens allow you to confirm that the user agrees with your license terms before installing the device. MCCI InstallRight presents a dialog box containing your own agreement, with a Yes/No radio button set. If the user does not agree to your terms, then the installation immediately terminates.
  • Splash screens
    Display your company or device logo during the device installation. Even animations are possible!
